The overarching goal of ARISE-NUTRINT is to establish a global alliance to prevent and reduce nutrition-related noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) among adolescence and youth in Africa, by boosting adolescents’ health behaviours and outcomes through nutrition literacy and fluency and by providing critical policy information and tools to scale and sustain interventions and policies to support adolescents in healthy food consumption and healthy lifestyles. It includes the following specific objectives, focusing on the African region (i) the identification of adolescent risk factors; (ii) the design of adolescent nutrition fluency intervention (ANFI) for African regions; (iii) the design of performance checks of sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) tax policies; (iv) the creation of health fluency videos and tools in African countries in reducing adolescent SSB consumption and improve health outcomes; (v) determination of impact and cost-effectiveness of interventions; (vi) support nutrition-related policies and interventions, (vii) creation of an Africa Think Tank for Adolescent and Youth Health, (vii) develop a platform to drive respective research. Successfully govern and implement a research agenda across 7 African countries focused on supporting adolescents in achieving healthy nutrition for healthy lifestyles.
Key activities for raising awareness and spreading new knowledge include dissemination, exploitation, and communication. In addition, by focusing on the role of different actors and other stakeholders, ARISE-NUTRINT will contribute towards encouraging the participation of citizens and other actors in future activities to promote adolescent health.
